金秋送爽，丹桂飘香。2026年9月6日，韶关余靖纪念馆第八届理事会换届暨第八届理事会第一次会议，在韶关恒胜（中山公园店）三楼会场隆重召开。香港余氏宗亲会理事长余仲元、副会长余伟明、副理事长余荣标、财务主任余世民以及嘉宾余艺术等应邀列席盛会，第七届全体理事出席大会，共同见证纪念馆承前启后的重要时刻。

Under golden autumn skies with sweet‑scented osmanthus in bloom, the 8th Council Transition Meeting and the First Session of the 8th Council of the Yu Jing Memorial Hall was grandly held on 6 September 2026 in the third‑floor conference hall of Hengsheng Hotel (Zhongshan Park Branch) in Shaoguan. Invited guests attending the event included Yu Zhongyuan, Chairman of the Hong Kong Yu Clan Association; Vice‑Chairmen Yu Weiming; Deputy Chairman Yu Rongbiao; Finance Director Yu Shimin; and guest Yu Yishu. All council members of the 7th Council were present to witness this milestone for the memorial hall.

Chaired by Yu Jianxiong, the meeting proceeded in five formal phases in strict accordance with the association’s constitution. All attendees stood for the national anthem. The host delivered the opening address, introduced distinguished guests, announced the list of outgoing council members, and presented biographies of newly‑admitted council members: Yu Xinxing, Yu Guofang, Yu Xinfa and Yu Jiexing.

Participants reviewed and approved the work report, financial report and transition audit report of the 7th Council. The revised constitution of the Yu Jing Memorial Hall was formally adopted, downsizing the council membership from 25 to 17 members. A set of internal administrative rules covering finance, assets, official seals and certificates, personnel management and archives was also passed to strengthen standardized governance of the memorial hall.

The meeting then moved to the election segment. Delegates endorsed the election procedures and confirmed the teams for ballot counting, vote tallying and oversight. The official reply document issued by Shaoguan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports was read out, followed by presentations on the candidates for the new council and supervisory board. Council members cast secret yes‑no ballots. Seventeen new council members and one supervisor were duly elected. The whole process was democratic, transparent and procedurally sound, reflecting the collective will of clan members.

Immediately afterwards, the first meeting of the 8th Council convened. Through ballot voting, Yu Jianxiong was elected Chairman; Yu Jieming and Yu Wanping were elected Deputy Chairmen; and Yu Lundao was elected Supervisor.

At the closing session, newly‑elected Chairman Yu Jianxiong delivered a statement of intent, outlining work priorities including research on Yu Jing’s cultural legacy, operations of the *Fengcai Monthly* Shaoguan Office, heritage conservation of the Yu Xiang Ancestral Well, clan exchange activities and improvements to the memorial hall’s exhibition displays. Yu Zhongyuan, Chairman of the Hong Kong Yu Clan Association, gave a speech expressing the Hong Kong clan community’s devotion to their ancestral homeland and commitment to preserving the time‑honoured Fengcai cultural heritage.

Group photos were taken with outgoing and incoming council members after the proceedings. This leadership transition brings fresh momentum to the memorial hall. With overseas and local clan members working hand‑in‑hand to carry forward Yu Jing’s legacy of loyalty and integrity, the institution is poised to reach new heights in its undertakings.
