The Hong Kong Yue Clansmen Association held its 89th anniversary celebration on the evening of April 25 at Maxim’s Palace Chinese Restaurant, combining the event with the second Elder Appreciation and Scholarship Presentation Ceremony of its 30th term and a Lunar New Year gathering for members.
Held at a new venue this year, the event drew clan members and guests who arrived early before the programme began. The gathering brought together members of the Yue clan and invited guests from different sectors in a festive setting.

He said the association had maintained close contact with Yue clansmen in different regions and continued to expand its network. Alan Yu also announced two upcoming events. The association will host the Ninth World Yue Family Convention in Hong Kong on Nov. 13 and 14, bringing together clansmen from around the world who share the same ancestral surname, rendered in different romanizations including U, Er, Yue, Yu and Yee. After the convention, Dik Hoi Fengcai Hall will organize a four-day tour of Taishan and Kaiping, with stops at Chikan Ancient Town, the Mei Family Courtyard, Haikou Port and Guishui Village. Participants will also attend the 40th anniversary celebration of Kaiping Fengcai Overseas Chinese Secondary School and visit Taishan Wuxi Middle School. He called on directors, supervisors and members to work together to ensure the success of the convention and related activities, and to demonstrate the unity of the Hong Kong Yue Clansmen Association.
During the speech, Wu Debin stated that relevant authorities in Kaiping will provide comprehensive backing for the commemorative activities hosted in Kaiping by the World Yue Family Association this coming November. Alan Yu mentioned the association has persistently funded educational programs across China’s mainland, framing the promotion of education and financial aid for disadvantaged students as an integral part of the clan’s core ethos. Upholding its long-standing tradition of rewarding outstanding academic performance and dispensing educational grants, the organization endeavors to motivate young clan members to focus on academic pursuit and devote themselves to the development of their ancestral clan and hometown.
Liu Liyuan delivered an overview of Taishan’s socioeconomic progress in the preceding year. He introduced that Taishan has pushed forward the clustered school governance mechanism and newly supplied 2,600 premium student enrollment slots. Special focus was placed on Wuxi Middle School’s remarkable school-running outcomes: roughly half of its graduates secured admission to key senior high schools, and the institution has claimed the top honor for outstanding quality in Jiangmen’s joint junior high school education assessment for eight successive years. In addition, the school’s volleyball squad, competing on behalf of Guangdong Province, took home the second prize at a national-level tournament held in 2024.
Wu Debin said Yue clan members at home and abroad had made sustained contributions to education, culture and public welfare in Kaiping. He said supporters had backed the development of Fengcai Middle School and Fengcai Overseas Chinese Secondary School, including improvements to teaching facilities. He added that Yu Zhuo’er had donated more than RMB 150 million to build the primary and junior secondary divisions of Fengcai Experimental School and had pledged a further HKD 82 million in 2025 for its senior secondary division. He also said clan associations and community leaders had established teaching and scholarship awards at 17 schools in Kaiping and Taishan.

To the continued peace and prosperity of our motherland, and to Hong Kong’s enduring stability and flourishing development—cheers! To the Hong Kong Yue Clan Association and all our friendly organizations from every sector, may your affairs continue to prosper, and may you achieve ever greater success; and to all clan members and friends present this evening, may your families be blessed with happiness, and may you enjoy robust health and strength— cheers!”
