In the mid-spring of the Bingwu year, on April 18, 2026, blessed with clear skies and gentle breezes, the Yu Jing Memorial Hall in Shaoguan was filled with auspicious energy. The Unveiling Ceremony of the Shaoguan Office of Fengcai Monthly Magazine and the Grand Ancestor Worship Ceremony for Lord Yu Jing were grandly held here.

Rooted in the virtues of our ancestors, this grand gathering brought together clan relatives from all walks of life. Committed to inheriting cultural heritage and uniting clan kinship, the event marked a new chapter in the inheritance of the Yu Clan culture.

Zhang Jianchang, Director of Shaoguan Cultural and Cultural Relics Scenic Area Management Center, attended the ceremony in person. The core team of Fengcai Monthly Magazine, representatives of Yu Clan Councils from multiple regions traveled a long distance to participate. All directors of the Yu Jing Memorial Hall in Shaoguan and local Yu Clan relatives gathered at the ancestral shrine. In total, more than 120 guests and clan relatives witnessed the official establishment of the Fengcai Monthly Magazine Shaoguan Office in Yu Jing’s hometown of Shaoguan.

To ensure the smooth success of the grand event, Yu Jianxiong, President of the Yu Jing Memorial Hall, took the lead in organizing multiple special preparation meetings with council members to refine procedures and make thorough arrangements. The entire activity received careful guidance from Director Zhang Jianchang and Yu Minfa, President of Fengcai Monthly Magazine, laying a solid foundation for its standardized and orderly execution. The whole ceremony was solemn, harmonious and well-organized.

Distinguished Guests Gather for a Time-Honored Clan Ceremony

At 7:30 in the early morning, President Yu Jianxiong, together with directors of the memorial hall and local clan representatives, arrived ahead of schedule to warmly welcome guests and clan relatives from across the country. Around 8 a.m., President Yu Minfa arrived with Vice Presidents Yu Haiying, Yu Guofu, Yu Yeru and the magazine’s staff, while Director Zhang Jianchang was present to guide the event arrangement.

Subsequently, representatives of Yu Clan Associations from Dongguan, Wengyuan and Yingde in Guangdong, Ruijin, Pingxiang and Shangrao in Jiangxi, and Changting in Fujian arrived one after another, led by principals including Presidents Yu Qilang, Yu Qixiang, Yang Hui and Director Yu Zhihui.

Bearing reverence for ancestors and sages, and bonded by shared blood ties, clan relatives gathered in Yu Jing’s hometown for this grand event of clan cultural inheritance. The scene was filled with sincere kinship and a warm festive atmosphere.

Addresses Deliver Blessings, Promoting the Inheritance of Time-Honored Culture

At exactly 9 a.m., the unveiling ceremony kicked off at the main gate of Lord Yu Zhongxiang Memorial Shrine. Yu Xilian, a former senior broadcaster from Shaoguan TV Station, presided over the event and introduced the attending guests amid a solemn and orderly atmosphere.

President Yu Minfa delivered the opening address first. He noted that Fengcai Monthly Magazine originates from Shaoguan and takes Lord Yu Zhongxiang as its spiritual root. The establishment of the Shaoguan Office in the ancestral land aims to carry forward the spirit of Lord Yu Jing, promote Fengcai culture and uphold the legacy of ancient sages, enabling the Yu Clan cultural heritage to take deep root and thrive in its birthplace. He expressed gratitude to all clan relatives for their dedication and support, stating that the founding of the office stands as a new starting point, and calling on all clansmen to unite and pass down the timeless Fengcai cultural heritage from generation to generation.

On behalf of the Yu Jing Memorial Hall, President Yu Jianxiong delivered a welcome speech and extended thanks to all leaders and clan relatives. He pointed out that the unveiling of the Fengcai Monthly Magazine Office is a milestone in the development of Yu Clan culture. As the hometown of Lord Yu Jing, Shaoguan is the spiritual root of the Yu Clan. The memorial hall will fully support the work of the magazine’s office, join hands with clan relatives nationwide to inherit the spirit of ancestors, promote fine family traditions, and write a new chapter of clan culture.

Director Zhang Jianchang spoke on behalf of the competent authority. He elaborated on the profound spiritual connotation of Lord Yu Jing’s "Fengcai" legacy. His six governing principles — integrity, impartiality, diligence, clarity, harmony and prudence — have endured for thousands of years and remain a treasure of traditional Chinese culture. He pledged full support for the work of the memorial hall and the office, striving to carry forward Lord Yu Jing’s spirit of integrity, uprightness, diligence and devotion to the people. He also hoped that Yu Clan relatives would unite to contribute to the cultural development of Shaoguan.

Appointment & Unveiling Ceremony Usher in a New Chapter in the Ancestral Land

Following the speeches, the appointment ceremony for the Shaoguan Office of Fengcai Monthly Magazine commenced officially. President Yu Minfa presented the appointment certificate of Office Director to Yu Jianxiong and the certificate of Deputy Director to Yu Xinxing. All attending guests took a group photo to record this significant moment.

Right after, Director Zhang Jianchang, President Yu Minfa, President Yu Jianxiong and representatives of Yu Clan Associations jointly unveiled the office plaque. The Yingde Fengcai Hall Lion and Martial Arts Troupe from Qingyuan gave a wonderful performance, accompanied by rhythmic drum and music, filling the venue with auspicious vibes in a solemn yet festive atmosphere. After the ceremony, all participants posed for a group photo in front of Lord Yu Zhongxiang Memorial Shrine, freezing this precious moment of clan cultural inheritance.

Commemorating Ancestors and Paying Tribute to Their Merits

At 10:08 a.m., the Grand Ancestor Worship Ceremony for Lord Yu Jing was held at Yu Xiang Cemetery in Gantang Chengjia Mountain, Shaoguan, in a solemn and sacred ambiance. President Yu Jianxiong, President Yu Minfa and representatives of various Yu Clan Associations served as chief worshippers. Yu Wanping, Executive Director of the memorial hall, read the sacrificial oration, earnestly recounting Lord Yu Jing’s eternal virtues and noble demeanor of integrity, uprightness, diligence and dedication to the people.

During the sacrificial ritual, clan representatives burned incense in turn and presented tributes including roasted whole pig, golden chicken, fruits, rice wine and fresh flowers, paying pious homage to ancestors and their benevolent virtues. All clansmen stood in solemn salute, cherishing the memory of ancestors and praying for the prosperity of the clan, eternal cultural heritage and enduring prosperity for generations to come.

Feast for Kinship, Exchanging Greetings and Discussing Clan Development

At noon, the appreciation luncheon was held on the third floor of Hengsheng Restaurant in Zhongshan Park. Clan relatives from all regions gathered together to share blood kinship and discuss the future development of the clan.

President Yu Jianxiong delivered a toast speech. He thanked the competent authorities for guidance, all clan relatives for support, and the preparation team for their hard work. He emphasized the significance of blood unity and solidarity among clansmen. He called on all Yu clansmen to take this grand event as an opportunity to unite closely, foster harmony within the clan, inherit ancestral virtues and fine family traditions, deepen exchanges and friendship among regional clan associations, safeguard the clan’s cultural heritage and boost its prosperity.
