No.1 Homeland of Overseas Chinese

 Because the history of the Taishanese going abroad is long , and there are many people sojourning widely in various districts, Taishan is called " No.1 Homeland of Overseas Chinese ".Now, 1.3 million overseas Taishanese distribute in 91 countries and regions of the five continents including US, Canada, Cuba, Mexico, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

The millions of overseas Chinese , the compatriots from hong kong and Macau always have the patriotic virtue .At the beginning of this century, overseas Chinese's helping hometown was conspicuous. In 1904, Mr. Chen Yixi ,the overseas Chinese staying in America, gathered capital in the overseas Chinese, and donated more than 3 million US dollars to construct Sinning railroad which was a privately built railway .Later, more and more overseas Chinese were encouraged by Chen's patriotic love , contributing money to the public service of the country . The overseas Chinese had raised fund to support nearly one hundred schools by 1949.
